I would like to share with you some great news- I got married! In celebration of my destination wedding at the Ice Hotel (Hotel de Glace) in Quebec City, Canada in dead middle of winter, and this being my 100th(!) post on this blog, and this being a Valentines Day, I would like to share with you my special day...with wedding photos!

I know that there are a lot of you guys out there planning a wedding, and there are so many ways to celebrate this great occasion. For me and my new husband Paul, we wanted to run away to somewhere magical, adventurous, and away from family pressure, so we decided to elope. Why the Ice Hotel in Quebec City in negative freezing temperature?

We live in Los Angeles. It is constant 80 degrees here.

We loved the idea of seeing snow. And lots of it. Quebec City is one the oldest town in North America, next to the beautiful St. Lawrence River with a heavy French influence. (Um...everybody speaks French here). I felt like I was in a snow globe. Paul thought he was in Hogwarts.

I also loved the idea of wearing a white parka. And boots. And Russian (faux) fur hats. Forget wedding dresses for me!

It was so easy with a help of a wedding coordinator who only caters to this celebrations from January to March when the Ice Chapel is open...until...errr... it melts.

The Ice Hotel is constructed every year with a different design- everything is made of ice (except few details like doors) and there are about 85 rooms with beds and furniture made of ice. There are also two bars, that serve drinks in ice made glasses, and a chapel where we got married by Mr. LaFrance!

And our wonderful wedding coordinator, Elisabeth Boudreau and our Photog, Xaviar Dachaez

But of course, we, being Californians don't like prolonged cold so much, so we stayed at Château Frontenac, which is literally a castle in middle of the fort! After our ceremony, we had a classic and fancy French 6 -course meal with wine pairing to complete the wonderful day. This course included beef carppacio, which is like raw beef sashimi, but I think Paul got kinda sick of the idea. Bedsides that, the rest of the meal was divine, and delicious.

Jen,

Your photos of your wedding are absolutely amazing and inspiring. You looked gorgeous in your white parka (like a snow princess) and Paul looked dashing as well. Congratulations to you both and see you home soon.
