I know when it's summer when our neighbor's apple tree bears petit little green bulbs that turn bright red. Technically, it's our neighbor's Zach and Renee's tree, but when the branch that bears these little gems spill to our side of the fence, I feel that they are rightfully ours. They grow in clusters, with dark green leaves that harbor them. When they are nice and streaky red, it's time for me to get our orange/apple picker and have Paul grab them off the tree.
They taste tart and sweet with a loud crunch. Ahh...I love the taste of summer.
