I have to admit that coming up with a great concept holiday card that does not look like a Hallmark rip off is really hard. First, you want to make sure it's mailable, flat. You also want a "wow" factor. If you're a commercial designer like me that works in an agency or a in-house corporation, it is daunting to come up with a holiday card that won't offend people with tree icons or red and green colors year after year. The solution? Make your card 3D. It's going to wow people and it's not as expensive as you think!
This is a holiday card that I first designed for the Long Beach Port in 2007. We ran about 5,000 copies. The next few post is going to be about holiday card in 2008 and 2009. The big reveal will come for 2010 so stay tuned!
This card is shipped flat in a metallic green envelope.
Then when you open it, it's not your typical holiday card...
What do you think? It's custom 3-d pop up card that we specifically paper engineered in our in-house shop.
