Joshua Tree with a Diana Camera
I took these pictures with a toy plastic Diana camera last year before I got really into digital photography. When I was at Art Center as a student, I took a real photography class for my prerequisite for my Ad major- the one where you had to take a picture WITH film, then use chemicals to develop the roll of plastic, then went to the dark room to get your prints.
Mind you, photography is a mixture between art and chemistry, because if you expose your film too long, you'll get white out photos. There is no room for recovery. Say good bye to your money shots you spent all weekend setting up. That's why I am a designer today- all manipulation (hello, is that a zit on your face? Let me get that "erased" for you) is all easy and possible on Photoshop.
I found these photos when I was going through my hard drive. I took these when Paul took me to Joshua Tree when we were first dating. It was before we got our pup, Mocha into our lives. I decided to be experimental and try out the Diana camera. I used 3 packets of 120 film (400 iso) and had fun capturing the beauty of Joshua Tree. When I got the film prints, it was a dud. (There is no way I was going to go through developing my own film and prints again. I used Fromex, a local photo store to process and print my photos). But with some Photoshop enhancements, these photos came alive.
